NYLON is our first publication of a full-length play script. The play was first produced off-Broadway by BTP at Theaterlab in March of 2019. One year later and we are thrilled to be putting it into print!
NYLON is a play about relationships, the past, secrets, and hard truths. It is a modern take, in spirit anyway, on Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. The dialogue is immediate, nuanced, and just funny enough. Take a dive.
From the screenwriter behind the recent smash-hit Netlfix films “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.”
Sofia Alvarez is the author of Friend Art, which was also produced off Broadway and published in 2017 by Samuel French. Click over there to check it out on the Amazon, where its evil but we get it you buy stuff there, or here from the Publisher.
An article about Alvarez’s experience balancing being screenwriter and playwright, published in The Baltimore Sun.
Another article, this time about the opening of Nylon, published at Playbill.
Here is a review published in the Washington Square Post.
“Sofia’s Alvarez’s NYLON is so simmeringly alive in its opening scene that we invest in these characters immediately.”
-The New York Times
Here is the first page of that first scene.

MATTHEW
Yeah. You too.
ANNA
Strange. How long.
MATTHEW
MmHm.
ANNA
That its happening now.
MATTHEW
Well, yeah. You sent me all those e-mails.
ANNA
Because you didn’t respond to me at first.
MATTHEW
I thought maybe if I ignored you.
ANNA
Are you being serious?
MATTHEW
No, I’m kidding.
ANNA
But it did take you a few weeks to respond...
MATTHEW
I was just surprised, that’s all.
ANNA
Yeah.
Small beat.
